TREXLERTOWN, Pa. – The Mike Walter Madison and the U.S. Women’s Open are both great events which create buzz by themselves. This year they are combined for one spectacular night.

Friday night is the Mike Walter Madison and the U.S. Women’s Open at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center as the first night without UCI points on the line in the 2016 World Series of Bicycling season.

“The Mike Walter Madison and the U.S. Women’s Open are both outstanding events,” VPCC Executive Director Marty Nothstein said. “As we are getting closer to the Olympics, we want to provide our riders the best tests for them as they ramp up their training for the games.”

The Mike Walter Madison is a 100-lap event, which will be the final event of the evening. A few favorites are members of the Maloja Pushbikers, Marcel Kalz and Christian Grasmann. The two, who are from Germany, are Six-Day champions and have extensive experience in the event.

The U.S. Women’s Open is a night which brings the female riders more into the spotlight. The evening’s program will be filled with high-caliber events for the ladies. Kim Geist of Emmaus, Pennsylvania is the defending U.S. Women’s Open champion.

In addition to the racing, it is German Night in T-town. VPCC is hosting ArtsQuest for the evening with plenty of fun on tap. One of the many perks of the evening is the usage of any Musikfest beer mug at the Beer and Wine Stand. Fans can get any Musikfest mug filled up for just $7 at the Beer & Wine Stand.

The German fun will spill over into the intermissions as well with barrel rolling and a beer stein race for prizes. For the kids, there is a coloring contest as well with the winner receiving a pair of admission tickets to the Crayola Factory in Easton, Pennsylvania.

Gates open at 6 p.m. with racing getting underway at 7:30 p.m.
